Winter Sea Swimmers - join us this Saturday RNLI Dunmore East Water Safety Advisers will be giving a free water safety talk at 10.30am this Saturday, 31 January, in the Dunmore East RNLI Lifeboat Station. They will cover the basics of staying safe when winter swimming, how to prepare properly, what to do if you’re caught in a rip (and what rips are) recognising hypothermia, essential kit, and a few practical tips that could make all the difference. The RNLI have recommended that we share the safety tips for taking a winter swim or dip with our members. Be prepared – Check the weather forecast visiting metoffice.gov.uk, including tide information and wave height. Take plenty of warm clothes for before and after your dip, along with a hot drink for when you come out of the water. Take a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch. Our club came together for a festive Christmas breakfast at The Strand, and it was a fantastic way to celebrate the season. The morning was filled with great food, laughter, and holiday cheer. Thanks to those who attended our AGM on Monday November 24th 2025 at the Haven Hotel. Whilst we had a relatively small turnout we reached the required quota of members and were very glad to welcome swimmers who are regularly on the beach and in the pool with DESC.
